Use Gmail in China without VPN

Method 1 / Use the Mail tool in WeCloud [Login / Register]

It is very easy to set the account. For most users, just fill in your Gmail account and password, and then you can access your Gmail. [You should be aware that when you log in to your Gmail in WeCloud for the first time, the connection may be denied by the Gmail server due to its privacy policy. You may receive an email with a subject of “Review blocked sign-in attempt“. You have to click “allow access to less secure apps” in that email to enable WeCloud help you break the GFW without a VPN.]

For users who are using company/university/group email service provided by Gmail (the email address is not yourname@gmail.com), you have to manually set the configuration as recommended below:

IMAP host: imap.gmail.com

IMAP Security: SSL/TLS with port 993

SMTP host: smtp.gmail.com

SMTP Security: SSL/TLS with port 465

Method 2 / Use Outlook to connect your Gmail in China

In your Outlook, open File-Account Settings. Create a new account in the dialogue window.

Select Manual setup or additional server types in the next dialogue window.

Select POP/IMAP in the next dialogue window.

Enter your account information and server information as below:

Server information:

Account Type: IMAP

Incoming mail server: wecloud.pro

Outgoing mail server: wecloud.pro

After setting the abovementioned information, you need to fill some other information by clicking More settings.

In the new dialogue window, switch to the Outgoing server tab, and tick My outgoing server requires authentication.

Besides, also remember to switch to the Advanced tab, and fill the port numbers and select the connection types as below (REMEMBER to choose SSL as the secure type):

Incoming server: 993

Type of connection: SSL

Outgoing server: 465

Type of connection: SSL

If all your settings are correct, Outlook will be able to send a test email through your mail.(It is a bit strange that the test email cannot be sent sometimes, and you can try several more times if you encounter such situation.)
